FERC’s decision to deny the Jordan Cove LNG Facility near Coos Bay
For years, activists and landowners in Southern Oregon have been trying to stop the Jordan Cove LNG Facility. Despite widespread opposition to the terminal and the pipeline required to get fracked natural gas to the export terminal, Jordan Cove lumbered on. But this past Friday, in a surprise move, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) – that usually rubberstamps proposals like Jordan Cove, denied permits for the Pacific Connector Pipeline and Jordan Cove Natural Gas Facility. FERC ruled that the pipeline is not in the public interest. Since the terminal cannot exist without the pipeline, FERC denied the terminal as well.
On this episode of Locus Focus, we talk with Jody McCaffree, executive director of Citizens Against LNG in North Bend, about this huge blow against LNG in Oregon and what it means for other proposed LNG projects that are still being planned in the Northwest.

GENE’S 2008 LNG WEBPAGE LINKS
“I believe that I might have a few more tidbits which many Coos Bay and North Bend residents might not be aware of so I’m going to send a few more e-mails on this subject. I’m not a reporter nor do I represent any organized group. I’m just a concerned citizen who has done a little research. If any of my facts are incorrect please feel free to set me straight. I mean no harm but I am a bit passionate about this subject. Gene LaRochelle”

HARRY STAMPER’S “NO LNG” SONGS
Harry produced several CD albums of his songs about the Jordan Cove LNG Project. He even put his “Jordan Cove Rock” song [ http://grooveshark.com/#!/s/Jordan+Cove+Rock/4yc5hn?src=5n ] in as his comments on the Department of State Lands (DSL) Port of Coos Bay LNG Marine Slip permit application. It is a shame that the Department didn’t listen.
